ST ELISABETH'S

EASTBOURNE

The ‘SHE’ Project

The ‘SHE’ Project is rooted in empowering women, specifically although not exclusively mums, to get back to work. Through the project they will be guided to recognise their gifts and be trained to build their skills base, particularly with the opportunities that can be realised through using the second-hand economy.

The Project will facilitate a space (and where necessary the experts required) where people can meet to talk through ideas, share experiences, learn through tutorials and training sessions and put into use the key tools needed to grow a business and become financially self-sufficient.

An environment will be created at St Elisabeth’s Church Centre where ideas such as upcycling and re-selling can flourish. We hope that this in turn will lead to creating a more cohesive, more engaged, more self-sustaining community where economic opportunities and growth can thrive in what is a statistically and historically deprived area of Eastbourne, and yet one that has huge potential.

The Project will be open to 6 people at a time who will attend a series of 6 practical and information sessions run for 2 hours on Tuesday mornings.  The first series of 6 sessions will be launched on Tuesday 5th of March 2019.  The Project is funded initially for one year and People Matter and Compass Community Arts are key partners.
